In this episode we talk about perspective, or our attitude or way of viewing something. This is so important because oftentimes our happiness in life can boil down to our perspective on things, and our perspective is a choice.

  • We start by talking about and defining perspective and why we should care about it.

  • When we regard our lives we should ask ourselves better questions in order to gain a proper perspective.

  • I give an example based on income to highlight how good we all truly have it.

  • I give a few more examples just to hammer home the point

  • Then I present this quote, “If you are pained by an external thing, it is not this thing that disturbs you, but your own judgment about it. And it is in your power to wipe out this judgment now.” That one is by the great Stoic philosopher Marcus Aurelius.

  • That quote guides the next portion of the podcast where we discuss how we choose our own feelings about the things that happen in our lives. We also talk about the ways that our mind can be manipulated by things like entitlement, desire, expectation, greed, jealousy, envy, and resentment. All these feelings will alter your perspective very badly and convince you that your life is bad even when things couldn’t be better.

  • In this weeks Call-To-Action we aim to alter our perspective and in doing so alter our lives. We express gratitude for what we have been given and we take inventory of our most basic needs and acknowledge how they’re all met.
