This week has already seen me get hit with a setback. I got a pretty good cold and had to not run or workout after Wednesday. Today I feel like I’m mostly better, but I won’t run again until tomorrow and even then it won’t be the 8 miles I originally planned for. More likely it will be around 4 or 5 easy miles just to see how my body responds.

Setbacks are inevitable and this one doesn’t bother me. The key is to not let these setbacks stop you dead in your tracks. I still have a plan and I’m going to fall back on the plan. Next week will probably end up being a bit harder than it would’ve been otherwise. No matter. My engine doesn’t run on momentum, inspiration, or motivation. It runs on discipline.
